Dr Malone is a podiatrist at the Liverpool Hospital in Sydney and has a particular focus in the area of limb salvage and the high-risk foot. His research interests include understanding bacterial populations (planktonic and biofilm) in DFU, and how different interventions impact on these communities with the ultimate aim in developing protocols that improve patient outcomes.
This presentation will share the latest information from the global wound biofilm expert panel consensus document along with evidence for the presence of biofilms in chronic wounds and the role biofilms play in delaying wound healing. Key recommendations around treatment, in particular the use of WBP and TIME concept and how these principles align with biofilm based wound care.
